Fundraiser in memory of Laura Dodds

A gig to raise charity cash will mark the 10th anniversary of a Northumberland student's death.

Laura Dodds died in 2000 from bone cancer aged 19.

The former pupil of Ashington High School won admiration by passing 10 GCSE exams, including seven A grades, eight months after she had been diagnosed - and going on to pass three A Levels despite intensive treatment.

After she passed away, her family dedicated their time to fundraising for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

On March 31, a gig at the Cluny in Ouseburn, Newcastle, aims to raise more cash for the charity through the Laura Dodds fund.

Organised by cousin Suzanne Young and her pals from her MA Events and Conference Management course at Northumbria University it will feature local bands as well as a big-name headliner to be announced later this month.

The event will also include guest speakers from the trust.

Tickets cost £7 and are available from www.ticketweb.com, the Cluny, RPM Records, ALTvinyl, and Beatdown Records.

We'd like to hear from you.
