Showcase for St John Ambulance work

Posted by The Journal on Feb 24, 10 01:52 PM in News

Work carried out by the St John Ambulance Service in providing care for elderly and disabled people will be showcased at an event in Northumberland next week.

The Dignity in Care Community Event, in Ashington's Masonic Hall on Tuesday, has been organised by Barchester Healthcare's Woodhorn Park and Station Park residential homes in the town.

St John Ambulance Northumbria runs three day centres for elderly people in Ashington, Shiremoor and Berwick.

Ashington manager Sharon Scott has been invited to attend Tuesday's event to highlight the work the service does in caring for some of the community's more vulnerable and isolated individuals.

She said: "Lots of different organisations are taking part, all of us wanting to show good practice in caring and to talk about the work that we do.''

The Government's Dignity In Care campaign aims to stimulate national debate on the need for people receiving care to be treated with dignity.

We'd like to hear from you.
