Woodhorn seeking miners' strike memories

Posted by The Journal on Oct 6, 09 09:07 AM in News

Memories and experiences of women who were affected by the miners' strike of 1984/85 are being sought by staff at a Northumberland museum.

The aim of the project - based at Woodhorn Museum and Archives Centre near Ashington - is to use the 25th anniversary of the nationwide strike to recognise and record the role played by the miners' wives and female relatives and supporters.

Staff at Woodhorn have joined forces with Cultureshock - a regional oral history initiative - and inspirenorthumberland - the county's contemporary art commissioning agency - to work on the project.

Anyone interested in taking part is asked to register their name and details at Woodhorn by phoning (01670) 528 080 or by emailing pkhaira@woodhorn.org.uk.

We'd like to hear from you.
