Talented Ashington youngsters take to the stage
Young promoters will tonight proudly present a professional show which they have arranged themselves as part of a volunteering scheme.
Pupils from Ashington High School Youth Project have spent the last six months preparing to stage a version of Phileas P. Souper - the story of five musicians and two mime artists who travel the world.
Far from just spending time learning their lines and rehearsing the youngsters have learned how to promote their show and gained the business skills needed to make the event a success.
Over the last six months, students have chosen the show, booked the venue, sorted out technical details, visited the Edinburgh festival to get ideas and sold tickets for the production, which they hope will draw a full house.
It features five musicians and two miming clown artists who travel magically around the world in about 80 minutes.
The show will be held at Hirst Park Middle School at 7pm.
The young promoters have arranged the show as part of Cultural Volunteering Northumberland, a 22 month programme funded through One North East, the Arts Council and other agencies. For tickets phone (01670) 812 166 ext 230.
We'd like to hear from you. Send your stories, pics and videos to northumberland@ncjmedia.co.uk
