Ashington thwart Northern League title chasers

Ashington produced a superb performance to hold Spennymoor Town to a goalless draw.

Victory would have taken Moors to the top of the Skilltrainingltd Northern League First Division but Gary Middleton's side again proved they are a much better outfit than last season.

Leaders Whitley Bay conceded the last 100% record in the Skilltrainingltd Northern League in an incident-packed contest at Billingham Synthonia.
