Have a say on Ashington town centre plans

Posted by The Journal on Sep 23, 09 12:21 PM in News

People in Ashington are being invited to have their say on a new planning blueprint for part of their community.

A detailed masterplan for the north eastern section of Ashington town centre will help shape its future regeneration and development.

It is being drawn up by the county council in conjunction with One North East and the Homes and Communities Agency.

As part of the process, a supplementary planning document is being developed to help the town cash in on public funds for improvement work.

Now the council wants local people with an interest in the town centre to submit comments, concerns or support for some draft options being put forward.

The final document will be used to determine planning applications and development proposals for the town centre over the next five or six years.

Consultation starts on Monday September 28 and runs until October 26.

People can take part by viewing a display at the council information centre in Wansbeck Square, Ashington, which is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

The document is also available to view at County Hall in Morpeth on weekdays and on the website www.northumberland.gov.uk

There will also be a public exhibition on Friday October 9 between 2pm and 5pm at Trinity Church, Station Road, Ashington, when council officers will be available to discuss options with interested parties.

We'd like to hear from you.
