Ashington see off Cestrians' challenge
Ashington are in the lofty position of third top in the Skilltrainingltd Northern League after they saw off a strong challenge from Chester-le-Street at Woodhorn Lane.
There were only 12 minutes remaining when the deadlock was broken by Scott Blandford who turned on the edge of the penalty area and fired just inside the post past goalkeeper Josh Carmichael.
Three minutes later, and the Cestrians went two goals down. Blandford was this time the provider for Joe Race whose drive was deflected into the net.
