Ashington teacher raising money in charity run
A teacher is swapping textbooks for trainers to raise cash for charity.
Jaime Maccoy is planning to take part in the Bupa Great North Run next month, running the 13.1 miles between Newcastle and South Shields to raise money for breast cancer research.
The head of English at Northumberland Church of England Academy, Ashington, decided to join the Breast Cancer Campaign's Jigsaw Runners team after her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Jaime said: "I am no great athlete but I want to raise as many funds for breast cancer research as I can.
"It is a cause that is personal to me and I want to support the 45,000 women that are diagnosed each year in the UK.
"My aim is to simply complete the race, however long it takes, and raise money."
