Newcastle Falcons scrum down in Ashington
Newcastle Falcons are working in three Ashington schools as part of the EDF Energy National Schools Rugby Programme.
Children and teachers from six schools in Northumberland are working with the club for six weeks, receiving specialist coaching.
The programme is for eight to 10-year-olds and focuses on tag rugby, a non-contact version of the sport that teaches the skills necessary to go on and play rugby union.
More than 100,000 children from across more than 1,100 schools have now been involved in the programme, which launched in January 2007.
The schools taking part are Amble Middle School, Ashington Hirst Park, Seaton Hirst and St Benedict's Middle Schools in Ashington, plus Newbiggin Middle School and Thomas Percy Middle School in Alnwick. The programme involves every Guinness Premiership side and two from National League One.
