Ashington Colliers suffer at hands of Northern Alliance champions
Ashington Colliers became the latest victims of Northern Alliance Premier Division champions Walker Central when they fell to a goal on the hour mark.
Club top scorer John Campbell earned the Central a 1-0 verdict away from home, and opponents will be worried to know that Central are staying put in the Northern Alliance next season. Heddon will be their final game next Saturday.
Another Northumberland side, Heddon, also lost 1-0 as a second half strike by Stephen Skinner kept Gillford Park's Northern League hopes alive.
Ponteland United's season, meanwhile, has ended with a ten-match unbeaten run, and opponents Harraby lost some ground in the runners-up battle in the 1-1 draw. Aaron Roberts gave Harraby an interval lead but his goal was cancelled out by Pont's Liam McIvor after the break.
Seaton Delaval should finish fourth and improved their chances with a 4-1 win away to Shankhouse. Stephen Howes and Steve Anderson both found the net to give Delaval a clear interval lead. Connal Reed claimed their third goal and after Craig Johnson scored from the spot for Shankhouse,
John Fitzpatrick completed Delaval's tally.
Heaton Stannington signed off with a 6-0 home win against Wark, their goals supplied by Adam Donaghey (hat-trick), Aaron Jewell (2) and Kevin Carr. And Carlisle City were 5-0 victors away to Blyth Town thanks to strikes by Jamie Heath (2), Stuart Hill, Scott Priest and Tom Foster.
Peterlee Town and Murton ended their respective campaigns propping up the table and a goalless draw with hosts Newcastle University left the Newtowners on the bottom rung. Only two points better off, Murton lost 3-2 in their last game at home to Alnwick Town.
