Ashington Athletic lose 3-2 in NNFL
Berwick Town edged past hosts Bedlington Terriers Reserves 2-1 to reach the final of the Sanderson Cup.
During a close fought game Michael Haley gave the home team a half time lead, which they held until the 80th minute when Stuart Payne scored an equaliser for Berwick.
Berwick then took the tie when they were awarded a disputed penalty which was converted by Scott Pithe.
Lynemouth Miners Welfare will be Berwick's opposition in the final after two first half goals from Darren Burn and a third by Dale Redpath during the second half saw them complete a comfortable win over Alnmouth.
Back in the league, Lowick United took a 3-2 win against Division One opponents Ashington Athletic. A 10th minute goal by Anthony Murray gave Lowick the lead but Michael Freathy levelled for the visitors before half time.
Kevin Bell then gave Ashington the lead after half time. But a headed goal from Murray drew Lowick level before the same player completed his hat trick from the penalty spot after 80 minutes.
The same result happened when hosts North Sunderland beat Rothbury 3-2.
Rothbury led by a John Angus penalty at half time but in the second half Neil Macfarlane netted a hat trick for the home team while Richard Hooks added a second for Rothbury in the closing stages.
In Division Two, Berwick United Reserves strolled to a 6-1 win over Embleton to take them second in the table following a recent run of good results.
Andrew Burgon with a hat trick and one each by Marc Murray, Paul Hargreaves and Craig Heugh made up the Berwick score with Bobby Greenley netting Embleton's consolation.
Honours were even between Hedgeley Rovers and visitors Wooler, who finished one apiece.
It was a closely contested local derby with Stephen Shendon giving Hedgeley a second half lead and Chris Stanwix equalising for Wooler.
Looking ahead to the Runciman Cup final, Alnwick Town Reserves beat Alnmouth Utd by three goals to one and will now have a chance of revenge for their defeat to Springhill in the Robson Cup Final. Springhill booked their place by travelling to Belford and winning 4-1.
