In a copy of Liverpool's win in the 2005 Champions League final, Shilbottle won the Bilclough Cup final in a high-scoring game with Alnmouth despite being 3-0 down at half time.

But Shilbottle went one better by actually winning the game 4-3 in extra time.

Mathew Kreczar had given Alnmouth a sixth minute lead and with further goals from Joe Moscrop and James Swordy after 40 and 44 minutes Alnmouth were in control at half time.

After 55 minutes Andrew Metcalfe pulled a goal back for Shilbottle, Alan Wallace netted a second from the penalty spot on 70 minutes with a 80th minute equaliser from Kevin Elliott sending the game into extra time. Neither team could manage another goal until two minutes from the end of extra time when David Davison scored a fourth for Shilbottle and complete the fightback.

In the league, Berwick Town moved into second place in Division One as they beat Bedlington Terriers Reserves by three goals to two while Ashington Athletic look to have clinched the title as two Michael Freathy goals and a Richard Hall effort saw them beat Craster Rovers. Lowick United won by four goals to one at home to North Sunderland.

In Division Two Springhill netted nine times without reply at Rothbury Reserves. David Jardine scored five, Paul Johnson three and a single David Forbes goal making up the final tally. Stephen Shendon (2) , Bryan Shendon plus a goal from Andrew Drinkeld made up the Hedgeley Rovers total as they beat Bamburgh Castle, whose two goals came from Johnny Johnson and Michael Alderdice.
