Shoppers will be able to splash the cash with artistic flair with the commissioning of a new piece of work.

Ashington-born artist Colin Rose unveiled his first indoor design at the reopening of the yellow mall of the MetroCentre, Gateshead.

Entitled This & That, it features two stainless steel cones - one suspended from the ceiling and the other rising from the floor.

Mr Rose is behind a number of contemporary pieces outdoors, including steel structure Everchanging close to Newcastle's Stowell Street.

The pieces took three months to make and polish, and each weighs about a tonne.

Mr Rose said: "The idea for the work was to create two elements which, when placed together, would create a visual dialogue or conversation."

We'd like to hear from you.
