Ashington Athletic win 9-0 against Rothbury
Shilbottle will meet Alnmouth in the final of the North Northumberland League's Bilclough Cup after both teams scored three times in this weekend's semi-finals.
Shilbottle beat Lowick United 3-0, with Mark Baston giving them a half-time lead after 44 minutes. Further goals then came from David Davison on 60 minutes and Adam Gattens with a minute to go, putting them into the final.
Meanwhile Alnmouth won 3-1 against visitors Bedlington Terriers Reserves. Alnmouth had the game wrapped up in the first half, James Swordy giving Alnmouth a 15th minute lead.
Further goals from Joe Moscrop (22 minutes) and Daniel Butler (35 minutes) saw them in control at half time. Bedlington came more into it after half time and pulled a goal back after 70 minutes thanks to a Ray Armstrong penalty.
The Runciman Cup is into the quarter finals, and three games produced semifinalists this weekend. Alnwick Town Reserves edged 2-1 past hosts Wooler. A 20th minute goal from Mike Openshaw gave Alnwick the lead with Rob Shepherd equalising after 35 minutes. The tie was finally settled with a Dale Kennedy goal after 80 minutes.
Springhill also won with two goals away from home, but opponents Hedgeley Rovers found no reply. Neither team could find a goal during the first half but second half goals from Mark Reid and David Jardine gave Springhill the win.
Embleton Whinstone Rovers also lost at home, 4-2 to Belford. A goal after 35 seconds from David Greshon gave Belford the lead, then he got a second. Embleton's goals came after half time through Chris Chisholm and Mark Wilkinson but Alastair Grieve and a third from Greshon sealed the win.
In Division One, Acklington Athletic lost 4-1 at home to Berwick Town. It was an improved performance from Acklington but it was Berwick who took the points thanks to goals from Stuart Payne, Rudy McLeod, Michael Antcliffe and Michael Cornish. Eric McKevitt netted a late consolation for Acklington.
Rothbury suffered a 9-0 pasting when Ashington Athletic came calling. The hosts held their own during the first half to trail by a single goal at half time, but had no answer to a powerful Ashington display after half time. Michael Freathy led the way with five goals and Neil Wallace, David Jones, Kevin Bell and Paul Hedley made up the final total.
Division Two produced two 4-3 games. Berwick United Reserves won against Rothbury Reserves. Martin Tait, Nick Moore, Nicky Wilson and Sandro scored Berwick's, and George Scott, Jimmy Moffatt and Keith Laidler got Rothbury's.
Lynemouth Reserves beat Bamburgh Castle. Kevin Potts, Steven Keers and Neil Dolan got Bamburgh's, but Tony Messenger (2), Andrew Walton and Dean Short won it.
