Booze Brothers let in eight in Morpeth Sunday League

The Traveller's Rest in Choppington overcame a tricky away game at Pegswood Ex-Services to maintain the pace at the top of Division One.

Goals from David John Kilpatrick (2) and Dale Wilkinson earned them a 3-2 win, with Carl Sanders and Matthew Cummins getting on the scoresheet for the hosts.

Lynemouth keep snapping at their heels, however, after comprehensively beating Ashington Booze Brothers 8-1.

Steven Desmier grabbed a consolation strike for Booze Brothers, but Marc Richardson scored four for Lynemouth and was joined on the scoresheet by Michael Davis, Adam Kent, Eddie Towers and Joe Robson.

North Seaton Elephant went into the last six minutes of their encounter with Red Row Brick Club trailing to an Ali Turvey goal, but eventually ran out 3-1 winners as Keith Sage equalised, Richie Hall put them in front and Anthony Wright sealed it with a last-gasp effort.

Stobhill Social Club went nap at Bedlington Northumberland Arms, as goals from Bradley Smith (2), Ashley McAlpine (2) and Nickey Jewitt saw them to a 5-0 win.

Linton & Woodhorn SC won 4-0 at home to Ox Inn, Middleton with goals from Paul Keys (2), Michael Freathy and Rob Groves.

Morpeth Waterford Lodge are the latest leaders of Division Two after beating Ellington 2-1 thanks to goals from Paul Jackson and Lenny Lansbury. Matty Scovell replied for Ellington.

Previous leaders Blackthorn Rovers suffered their first defeat in 14 games as they went down 2-0 at Bedlington Station, with a brace from David Kewn doing the damage.

Bedlington Barrington Arms went level on points with Rovers with a 4-1 win over Block & Tackle. Neil Fulton was on target for the Block, but goals from David Scott (2), Paul Dunn and Chris Hay did the Barrington's promotion drive no harm.

Guide Post Social Club were the days biggest winners, with a 9-1 rout of Alnwick 'A'. Danny Swan (4), Mark Taylor (2), Andy Thompson, Davie Thompson and Carl Hill were all amongst the goals and Martin Snaith netted for Alnwick.

Wansbeck Riverside SC will be ruing their early season form, as they have put their poor start behind them to string together some good form. Their latest three points came courtesy of a 4-0 win in a derby with Morpeth Chantry, thanks to goals from Nathan Williamson (2), Steve Bird and Dan Halliday.

In Division Three, Bedlington Station Railway took another step towards the title with another win while as two of the chasing pack suffered defeats.

The Railway won 6-0 at Ashington Hirst Industrial. Liam Candlish (3), Chris Golding, Jamie Chapman and Robbie Black all featured on the scoresheet.

Two goals from Michael Straker earned Amble Dock a 2-1 win over Bomarsund Social Club, who could only manage a goal from Mark Snowball in reply. North End Trap also lost, as Felton beat them 3-0 with goals from Mark Cockburn, David McCann and Scott McMullen.

The bottom two in the division served up a cracker, meanwhile, as Morpeth Black Bull hosted Ashington Conchie and eventually won 4-3.

Malcolm Sanderson, Chris Wright and Aaron Fraser scored for the Conchie, but the Black Bull prevailed after goals from Kyle Shaw, Terry Fogerty, Chris Dutton and Ronnie Clark.
