Ashington Colliers fail to reach Northumberland Senior Bowl final
Two Northern Alliance sides - Blyth Town and Percy Main - will be going head to head in this season's Northumberland Senior Bowl Final after seeing off the challenges of league colleagues in Saturday's semi-final ties.
Holders Blyth Town beat cup visitors Whitley Bay A 2-0 with a goal in each half for Mark Waugh and Danny Beresford. Their next opponents Percy Main made the cut with a 2-1 win away to Premier Division opponents Ashington Colliers thanks to Jason Ritchie, and after Richard Brown levelled for the Colliers Joe Betts got the winner in the 75th minute.
In another cup clash -- a quarter-final of the Longhorn Hardware League Cup -- goals for Marc Nixon, Mark Elliott and Jamie Crichton gave Wark a 3-2 home win against Stobswood Welfare. Both of the Welfare's replies were by Tony Shotton from the spot.
The top six sides in the Premier Division all won. Walker Central won 3-1 against bottom rung hosts Cramlington Town although Ian Dunn opened for Cramlington.
In third place Alnwick Town made it five wins out of the last six by beating struggling visitors Peterlee Town 2-1. Ben Keenan claimed both of Alnwick's goals.
Seaton Delaval also clinched a league double in hammering Murton 7-2 at Wheatridge Park with goals for Craig Johnson (hat-trick), Nick Evans, Gary Forbes, Stephen Howes and Connell Reed. Karl Garside replied for Murton who were also presented with an own goal.
Carlisle City are still improving and defeated hosts Shankhouse 1-0 thanks to a 57th minute goal put away by Scott Priest.
