Ashington Athletic pull game back against Rothbury
Alnmouth destroyed local rivals Craster Rovers 7-0 in Division One of the North Northumberland League with five goals in the second half.
Two breakaway goals from Joe Moscrop and Mick Robson saw Alnmouth ahead at half time with a gallant Craster team conceding five more in the second half. Moscrop completed his hat trick, Mick Robson got his second with Gary Flynn and Chris Moffett also on the scoresheet.
Ashington Athletic also won at home, 4-2 against Rothbury. Craig Sutton actually gave the visitors the lead but a Sean Dixon header and further goals from Paul Hedley and Paul Keys saw Ashington ahead at half time. David Jones made it four then John Angus netted Rothbury's second.
Lowick United won 5-2 against hosts Acklington Athletic. Colin Young and Anthony Murray saw Lowick ahead after 25 minutes and a long throw deflected into the net made it three. Young got Lowick's fourth before Acklington pulled a goal back in the 44th minute. Acklington scored after the break with a long range effort but Paul Metcalfe secured the points after 80 minutes.
In Division Two, Belford beat hosts Rothbury Reserves 4-1 through David Greshon, Alistair Grieve, Mark Dunlop and Kevin France. Rothbury originally took the lead with a deflected George Scott goal.
Hedgeley Rovers also won 4-1 away, against Alnmouth United. Two goals each from Andrew Drinkeld and Stephen Shendon won it after Karl McEwan gave Alnmouth an early lead.
Berwick United Reserves won 5-1 against Wooler. Paul Wood (2), Stevie Emans, Andrew Burgon and Marc Murray won it, with Damien Hall getting Wooler's.
Embleton drew 1-1 with Bamburgh Castle. Adam Pringle and Ryan Thompson both scored.
In the Sanderson Cup round one, holders Lynmouth began a successful defence beating North Sunderland 2-0 through Dale Redpath and John Bone.
Shilbottle fell 3-2 to visitors Berwick Town. Mitchell Simpson, Stuart Payne and Michael Antcliffe gave Berwick the lead before Andrew Metcalfe and Adam Gattens clawed a way back for Shilbottle, who also hit the woodwork twice.
Good defending saw Alnwick Town Reserves safely through in the Robson Cup quarter final. A David McCann hat trick saw off hosts Lynemouth Reserves.
