Faster bus service for Ashington
Route changes are being introduced on cut-price bus services in Northumberland in a bid to provide a better deal for passengers.
Operator Go North East is making the changes to its Bargain Bus services from Monday February 9 to improve reliability and speed up some journey times.
The company introduced a number of new Bargain Bus destinations in November and, after monitoring the services and listening to passenger feedback, is ready to make some adjustments.
Service X44 between Newcastle and Morpeth will change its route with buses running via Stannington Village instead of Stannington Station, and then run via Clifton and Loansdean.
The route change will help keep services on time and give quicker journeys for people travelling to and from Longhorsley, Longframlington, Rothbury and Thropton.
Minor timetable changes will also come into effect for passengers travelling between Newcastle and Seaton Burn, while people travelling from Stannington Village, Clifton and Loansdean will find their bus times changing to operate on the opposite half hour to the current times.
Service X45 will no longer serve Ashington, but Go North East's new Bargain Express will provide a much-improved 40 minute journey time between Ashington and Newcastle. Service X45 will travel between Newcastle, Morpeth and Pegswood.
South of Morpeth, buses will run via Stannington Station, Hepscott Park and Stobhillgate with customers in these areas finding their buses operating on the opposite half hour to the current times.
Full details of the changes to Bargain Bus services, and all information on Go North East services, are available at www.simplygo.com or by calling 0845 6060260.
The Bargain Bus service was launched in October 2006, between Blyth and Newcastle, to see if travellers were prepared to accept basic service if the prices reflect this.
