Morpeth Sunday League round-up
In Division One of the Morpeth Sunday League, the top two both won at home to keep their title hopes up.
Current leaders Traveller's Rest, Choppington saw Steven Young grab a brace in their 2-0 win over Stobhill Social Club.
Lynemouth, three points behind with a game in hand, scored six without reply as they hosted Alnmouth Argyle. Andrew Spratt scored four, along with goals from Pascal Butters and Iain Nickalls.
Amble Pier 81 and Pegswood Ex-Services finished 1-1 as Chris Glass bagged a goal for Pier 81, and Carl Sanders struck for Pegswood.
Castington moved to the summit of Division Two with a 6-0 won over East Chevington.
John Paxton claimed a hat-trick for Castington, who also saw James Docherty, Steven McLeod and Chris Ball find the net.
Castington moved above last week's leaders Blackthorn Rovers, who were held to a draw by Wansbeck Riverside SC.
Jonathan Spiers and Chris Martin scored for the Riverside, with Adam Smith and Ian Brodie scoring for Rovers as it ended 2-2.
Block and Tackle enjoyed a 4-2 win at Alnwick 'A', three points which moved them into mid-table away from the bottom spots. Regan Turnbull and Lee Charlton scored for the hosts, with Chris Evans (2), Lee Smith and Paul Connors netting for the Block.
Morpeth Waterford Lodge recorded a 2-1 success as they entertained Bedlington Station. John Farrell and Lenny Lansbury were on target for the Waterford, with Shaun Taggart replying for the Station.
A Karl Porter brace secured a 2-1 win for Guide Post Social Club at home to Ellington. John James Eke was the scorer for Ellington.
Base FC, Ashington shocked North End Trap as they inflicted a first defeat of the season on their visitors in Division Three.
Craig Murray, Jamie Graham and Shaun Wasylowski all found the net for Base, with David King replying for the Trap.
Bomarsund Social Club blew Ashington Conchie away with a 10-1 win. Adam McTaggart was the lone marksman for Conchie, whilst Bomarsund racked up goals through Kris Grey (4), Ross Muter (3), Craig Thompson (2) and Paul Dixon. Felton beat Amble Dock 6-2 with goals from Mark Cockburn (2), Gary Flynn (2), Ron Murray and Dale Kennedy.
Morpeth Black Bull triumphed 5-1 at home to Chatton thanks to goals from Matthew Gray, Jonny Rees, Peter Price and a double-strike from Chris Dutton. Ashington Hirst Industrial won 2-1 at home to Morpeth Swan.
