Five arrested after attack in Ashington

Five people have been arrested after a teenager was attacked in Ashington.

The incident happened at 4.50pm on Thursday, December 4, on Warkworth Crescent at its junction with Bamburgh Terrace. The 17-year-old victim was with four other youths when a blue Rover 75 pulled up alongside them.

A group of men got out and assaulted the youngsters, causing the victim to fall to the ground, where he was kicked repeatedly in the head. The victim was treated in hospital but later sent home.

Four men and a woman were arrested for assault and bailed pending further inquiries. Witnesses are asked to contact Ashington CID on 0345 604-3043, ext 61648, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
