Kenneth Ferrie raises thousands for cancer charity
Ashington golfer Kenneth Ferrie has donated the proceeds from his star-studded golf day at Matfen Hall to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
It is the second year Kenneth has supported the charity, bringing the total he has donated through his foundation to more than £10,000.

Kenneth, a regular on the European and PGA Tours, held the Ferrie Foundation Golf Day in September at his home course.
Joining him were famous names such as Newcastle United favourites Steve Harper and Alan Shearer.
Now, the Ashington-born sportsman has handed over £3,600 to Marie Curie.
As well as raising cash, the 29-year-old has become an ambassador for Marie Curie Cancer Care, wearing his trademark daffodil, the charity's symbol, across the world.
It has resulted in interest from far-flung corners of the globe. Kenneth, who now lives in Ponteland, Northumberland, said: "Although my work takes me away from home for much of the year, I am committed to supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care's work in the North East."
Kenneth turned professional in 1999, after a successful amateur career, which included winning the British Boys Championship in 1996.
He has twice won on the European Challenge Tour and has two European Tour wins, as well as the 2003 Spanish Open and the European Open in 2005.
Suzanne McKenna, area fundraising manager, said: "Kenneth is a fantastic role model."
Marie Curie Cancer Care provides free nursing care provision for cancer patients, both at the charity's Newcastle hospice, the biggest in the region, and in patients' homes across the North East.
