Choose how to spend ã60,000 in Wansbeck
An exciting new venture is being launched in Wansbeck. It's called Participatory Budgeting, or known locally as Wansbeck - You Decide.
The idea is to give local people the power to spend public money in their communities. This means that local people can share some of the responsibility for what happens where they live, and make real changes.
Wansbeck - You Decide is led by a steering group working in partnership with voluntary sector workers and council officers to make this a success.
It is different because it benefits you - the people who live here - who would understand best what is needed in your area and it gives you the chance to make your own decisions about how the money is spent. There is ã60,000 to be spent on ideas that come from local communities within Wansbeck.
Who can apply?
- Anyone living in the Wansbeck area
- Any Community and Voluntary Groups in the Wansbeck area
- Local schools
Why get involved?
To make the area safer, stronger or greener.
There are three steps for local people in communities or groups to get involved.
- You decide what you most want. You come up with the ideas to make them happen. Remember to fill the form in full to give your ideas the best chance.
- You hear about all the suggested ideas at a special event on Saturday February 28 2009, and you decide which you feel will benefit your communities by voting for the best ideas.
- You benefit from the winning ideas when they are put into action in your neighbourhood.
This is not a big or time-cons
We'd like to hear from you. Send your stories, pics and videos to northumberland@ncjmedia.co.uk
