A novice architect has won an award for his design for a museum.

Shaun Young was presented with the Sergeant Award for Excellence in Drawing as well as being shortlisted for the student medal for best overall student project at an international awards ceremony in London.

The medals are awarded by the Royal Institute of British Architects.

The 21-year-old, from Ashington, is a former Northumbria University student. He was nominated by the university's architecture department for his final-project designs of a modern-day museum built around one of the oldest houses in Europe - a Mesolithic hut in Howick, Northumberland.

We'd like to hear from you.
