Police arrest 12 in Ashington

Posted by The Journal on Nov 14, 08 10:20 AM in News

TWELVE people were arrested in Ashington yesterday in a blitz to keep driving down crime in Northumberland.

Beginning at 4.30am, teams visited 14 addresses throughout the town, making arrests for offences including GBH, robbery, assault, burglary and racial offences. The arrests form part of the ongoing operation to cut crime across the county, and police have pledged there is plenty more to come.

Ashington Neighbourhood Inspector Richard Yeats said: "This is just the latest initiative to take criminals off the streets."

We'd like to hear from you.
