Funding needed to support sports star
A leading athlete might miss out on the Deaf Olympics after funding was scrapped.
Football star Sarah Page, from Ashington, Northumberland, might not make the games next year after the Government diverted funding for the 150-strong team to the 2012 Olympic Games.
Winger Sarah has recently returned from the Women's Deaf World Cup, held in Greece, where she helped England finish third.
Now the profoundly deaf 17-year-old, of Houndslow Drive, is preparing to represent Great Britain at the Deaf Olympic Games, which will be held in Taipei next year. But she needs to raise ã3,000 to meet the costs.
Call 07824 461 223 to sponsor Sarah.
