Funding advice session for Wansbeck charities
Charities can benefit from two days of expert advice to help them raise more money for their causes.
Wansbeck Centre for Voluntary Service provides information, support and advice to voluntary and community groups in the Wansbeck district and its autumn conference is on the subject of fundraising, which will provide a mix of training and advice for voluntary and community groups.
On day one, fundraising expert Mark Butcher, who has worked with a mix of local, national and international organisations, will give the first talk.
In the afternoon there will be an opportunity to meet representatives from funding bodies from the Wansbeck and Northumberland areas including Awards for All, the Greggs Trust, BBC Children in Need, Lloyds TSB Foundation and the Northern Rock Foundation.
Day two will see the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) speak on understanding outcomes and full cost recovery.
The afternoon session will include talks from successful local groups, as well as an overview on procurement and the support available locally by the Northumberland Procurement Centre.
There will also be an update on the Government's ã215m Futurebuilders scheme which offers support and investment.
The Conference will end with presentations from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust and the Big Lottery Fund on the latest major funding that is available through their respective grant schemes.
Wansbeck CVS's funding advice officer Stephen Humphrey said: "Local voluntary and community groups have contributed much to the regeneration that has taken place in the Wansbeck district in recent years. It's therefore vital groups in our area continue to make the most of the funding that is available."
The conference takes place at the Bothal Suite in Ashington Leisure Centre on October 14 and 15 from 9.30am until 4pm. It costs ã10 per attendee per day (or ã15 for both days) for Wansbeck-based groups, ã15 for others, which includes materials, buffet lunch and refreshments.
